Hi,
I am new user of pyrosim.
I have a dxf file of a building, which I imported in pyrosim as given in the user manual.

It crates some 3 models as walls, columns and floors. These are all faces.

I wish to convert the walls, columns, etc into OBSTructions, VENTS etc, but I don't know how to proceed. Please help.

If any example file or pdf or demo is there, please let me know.

  Thank You !!

I'm not sure what specific part of the process is giving you trouble.  After you import a 3D DXF, you should have obstructions in your model.  You will need to add VENTs manually.  Also, you need to define a mesh prior to running FDS.  The imported geometry will be converted to OBST records based on the mesh.

The PyroSim Users Manual has a little bit of information on the import process (out of date, now you can just import DXF without special steps) and on the DXF import dialog itself.  You can find the documentation here:

Hi,

Thanks for quick reply!!!

Please, have a look at the attached image file. I have imported dxf file and it creates a many pillers.  I deleted all and just kept one for simplicity. (As it was not creating any obstructions)

I do not know what is the problem.
Also, I have a query that, Do I have to define MESH prior to importing a dxf file?

Please help.

One thing I would like to add is that, when I use Explode in AutoCAD, and convert it to dxf file, these are all 'faces' seen when imported in pyrosim.
I wish to convert it into OBST.

Thank You !!

You do not have to create a MESH prior to import.  When you import from a DXF, the DXF geometry is imported to (potentially angled) PyroSim geometry.  However, prior to running FDS you do need to create a MESH.  Using the MESH, PyroSim creates OBST objects of the correct size.  i.e. PyroSim does not convert DXF geometry directly to OBST, PyroSim imports DXF to its own format then converts its own format to OBST based on the MESH.

PyroSim will not create any OBST records until you create a MESH.

Hi,
Thanks !!!
I got it...!!!!
I thought, it will create automatically OBST lines.

Now, I am able to get OBST lines, by creating MESH.

Thank You for your help !!!
