Hi all,

I want to create a diagonal wall. Does all the nodes need to be closed?

Example 1)
[]
[]
  []
  []
    []
    []
      []
      []
Example 2)

[]
[]
[][]
   []
   []
   [][]
      []
      []
      [][]
         []
         []

Which one is correct?

I'm told that two diagonally adjacent grid blocks do prevent airflow through the joint. Example #1 should function as the expected wall.

Ok, thnx.

So FDS will assume the connection of the corner - corner  as a closure. And so the smoke wont go through the wall. Right?

Hello Keith,

Please see the following link.

The example files in that case provide a demonstration of the effect of different wall thickness.
You can see that even in the single cell wall, where the corners meet, that 'smoke' and species do not pass the barrier, but oscillations in the pressure solution on the non-burner side of the wall will cause some minor changes to the flow field.
