I`m a bit unsure where to send suggestions for new features in Pyrosim, so I thought I would write them here - Grouping possibilites for meshes, devices, slices control logics and perhaps even surfaces and materials (like the grouping possibility of OBSTS). This would make organizing large models a lot more efficient!
- Possibility of scaling mesh using the 2D view option. At the moment it is possible to move it, but not resize it.
- Setting transparency to objects/surfaces. Pyrosim seems to support transparency from other .fds inputfiles, but you can`t define it in the model?
..If I can think of anymore in the future, I`ll add them here!

This forum is a great place for feature suggestions. You could also email them to support: support@thunderheadeng.com
For color transparency, you can set that in PyroSim. The box is labeled "Alpha" and is in the upper-left corner of the color chooser. In the attached image, it is circled in yellow. Alpha is jargon from the graphics world. We probably should change that to "opacity" (or call it transparency and use 1-x).

We do already have MESH editing tools and grouping for things other than obstructions on our feature suggestions list, so I will take this as a +1 for them.

Excellent, I have not seen this one, thanks for pointing it out! You could consider describing this in the manual also :-) (if I am not blind, I don`t think either alpha or transparency is described in there..) Best regards JWest

Hi,
I'm a newcomer in this forum, I guess this post is a good place to make suggestions. Frequently I use numerical keypad period instead of comma while typing numerical values. Do you have any trick or new feature possibility to make key '.' from numerical keypad giving the same decimal character as comma key does? (as done in excel for example). Thank you very much for your time and attention.
Gregoire.

I was just wondering if there is support for the &INIT function in Pyrosim? While not a very common function to use in FDS, it can for example be used to define a different ambient temperature inside a building than on the outside of it, using a sextuplet XB to define the region. That could be useful for investigating possible problems with smoke ventilation systems buoyancy issues in the smoke, stack effect etc.
Best regards

Yes, PyroSim does support INIT regions. To create INIT regions: on the Model menu, click New INIT Region...
You could also use the toolbar button which looks like a light-blue box with the letters TD written on it (temperature, density).

One suggestion regarding EVAC-simulations, it would be really good feature to be able to copy-cut-and- paste the exits, doors and etc, as you can with other parts of the model.
Also a possibility to edit the input in the record view would make Pyrosim even better. Possibility to update the time history preview plots, sort of like pressing u in smokeview.

I am currently in a FDS project where I have to define a lot of different scenarios. The idea of a "scenario-picker/loader" came to my mind. It would be nice if one could define a set of given parameters/settings for a given scenario, and be able to load these settings with the click of a button again at a later time. This way one could define several different scenarios, each containing their own settings, and be able to easily re-run them later. I`m aware that you could just create copies of the pyrosim file or FDS file, each representing a different scenario, but often you need to make small changes to the model, or the need to import new drawings because of bigger changes,. This will lead then lead a lot of work updating each scenario-file. A dedicated scenario-picker/loader in the program would nice for this. Any thoughts about this? Best regards JWest

I think it sounds like a great way to manage the global options under Simulation Parameters. We're always running everything in SFPE, SFPE+Collisions, and Steering mode and I'm afraid repeating the same pattern of mousing might give me some sort of repetitive stress injury.
I've seen similar ideas in other software. Like MS visual studio lets you easily switch between Release and Debug builds or you can add new custom types. You can also do project specific changes for each build type. I think you can edit the defaults too. That sounds to me like a nice model to follow.
Thank you for the suggestion!
