Hello!

I was just wondering if anyone else have had the same problem, or if developers know the reason. I have a rather big model consisting of several imported 3D DXF files. After setting up a scenario, id like to write out a .fds file for use with our cluster. Previously (earlier scenarios, same model) Pyrosim wrote a ~ 8 mb file, which worked fine. Now however, it started to randomly write out files in much larger size order, ranging from 40-100 mb. Same model, only changed a few parameters.

I have a bit of problem using these large .fds files (they keep hanging when initilizing FDS). Is there any reason for why the .fds files suddenly get much larger? I`ve tried restarting program, and computer, and sometimes it works, sometimes not. The large sizes are also very random, not consistent at all.

Best regards

It`s possible that some of the changes we made in the last round of improvements to the part of PyroSim that converts angled geometry to FDS-compatible blocks is causing your trouble. Previously, PyroSim was very eager to merge overlapping geometry together - to the point where users had a difficult time understanding where some objects had come from. Now, PyroSim uses a test that is more strict when deciding if two angled elements should become a single FDS block. You can relax this test a bit by removing the name check.

When converting to blocks, the latest version of PyroSim, by default, will not merge two objects whose names are different. To allow PyroSim to merge differently-named objects:

1. On the FDS menu, click Simulation Parameters
2. Click the Angled Geometry tab
3. Under Merge objects with identical properties, select Ignore names while merging
